GY-AMG8833 IR 8x8 Infrared Array Thermal Sensor Module
Power Supply: 3-5V The AMG8833 infrared thermal sensor is an 8x8 infrared thermal sensor array. When connected to
your microcontroller (or Raspberry Pi), it returns a set of 64 individual infrared temperature readings
via I2C. It's like those fancy thermal imagers, but compact and simple for easy integration.
The AMG8833 is Panasonic's next-generation 8x8 thermal infrared sensor, offering higher performance
than the previous AMG8831. The sensor supports I2C only and features a configurable interrupt
pin that triggers when any single pixel exceeds or falls below your set threshold. The AMG8833 infrared thermal sensor measures temperatures from 0°C to 80°C (32°F to 176°F)
with an accuracy of ±2.5°C (±4.5°F). It can detect humans from up to 7 meters (23 feet) away.
With a high frame rate of 10Hz, it's perfect for building your own human detector or mini thermal imager.
We've used this Breakout with Arduino or compatible boards (the sensor communicates via I2C) or
with Python on a Raspberry Pi. On the Pi, with the help of image processing via the SciPy Python library,
we can overlay an 8x8 grid and achieve some excellent results!
